Hancocks

Hancock’s Holdings Limited has worked with EML Ltd for some time, previously having bespoke sweet bins and units designed for them.  Their most recent brief was for a Pick and Mix unit suitable for smaller retail outlets, but those outlets were very different, incorporating retail stores, leisure centres, cinemas and theme parks.  To suit this range of venues Hancock’s were looking for a unit that would visually suggest “fun”. 

Meeting the tight budget requirements, the welded steel frame was designed and manufactured in the UK and includes 5 shelves, separated by a storage shelf for scoops and bags.  The bar type shelf made use of the pick and mix bin design feature that ensures the bins sit securely and cannot be pulled down, thus avoiding any health and safety risk.  The unit was enhanced by incorporating a 3D vacuum formed header at the top.  The simple primary coloured lower case letters give a childlike simplicity to the display, stirring childhood memories.  The addition of sweet covered graphics enhance the fun feeling of the unit whilst allowing each outlet to add its own branding. 

The unit was completed with the addition of EML’s pick and mix sweet bins.  These particular bins were specially designed for Hancock’s Holdings, but incorporate the standard features of our pick and mix bins, which, as well as the safety feature, include being vacuum-formed so that there is no sugar seepage into joints, they are made of food safe polycarbonate and are virtually unbreakable, and have a slow-down lid feature to ensure that the bins are not left open by customers.  Once Hancock’s sweets are added, they prove irresistible and provide great sales for the end user as well as a great treat to the customers.
