Mobile Phone Display
EML Ltd was given a challenging brief to provide a mobile ‘phone display that would allow for an increased range of handsets, with better communication highlighting the different features of the individual ‘phones. Security of the handsets was paramount; whereas in previous displays the handsets had been drilled and bolted to the display, this was costly for the network providers so a method was required to hold the handsets firmly and securely without the need for drilling.
The new display addressed these issues in its design of an injection-moulded module in virtually unbreakable polycarbonate, incorporating an adjustable grip into which all currently available handsets would fit, and with enough flexibility to allow any future designs to be accommodated. By incorporating a mirror back an added advantage of a 360-degree view of the handset was achieved. The injection–moulded modules are attached with security screws and metal shrouds to prevent any possibility of their being levered off the display. The network providers were able to give their input in to the design and graphics of their element of the display to maintain their brand identity.
The ultimate fixture was a bright, eye-catching and attractive display, in which it is easy to understand and identify the required handset and network provider, and which incorporated a select and collect facility.
